About the Academy: A practical route into offshore wind

Offshore wind needs people who are safety focused, technically capable and ready to learn. Empire Energy is developing the next generation of offshore technicians through a structured programme that combines technical foundations with real operational experience.

• People with basic electrical, mechanical or hydraulic knowledge.

What you need:

• High school diploma or GED.

• Valid driver’s licence and the legal right to work in the United States.

• Good spoken and written English.

• Strong safety mindset and the ability to follow instructions and procedures.

• Comfortable with heights, sea travel and confined spaces.

• Able and willing to work day or night shifts and spend periods away from home.

• Able to pass the required medical, fitness, drug screening and other employment checks.

• Able to meet the physical requirements of offshore work, including climbing and manual handling.

Life in offshore wind

Offshore wind can offer a rewarding long term career, but it is demanding work. Technicians may work extended shifts, travel by vessel or helicopter, work at height, operate in changing weather conditions and spend significant periods away from home.

Safety comes first. Candidates must be prepared to follow procedures, use personal protective equipment correctly, communicate clearly and work as part of a disciplined team.

Do I need previous wind experience?

No. The Academy is intended for both entry level candidates and experienced technicians. Technical, industrial, maritime, military or construction experience can be useful, but attitude, safety awareness and aptitude are equally important.

Is this a classroom training programme?

There is some classroom training. But the Academy is built around practical development, supervised experience and progression toward offshore readiness.

Will I work offshore immediately?

Not necessarily. Offshore deployment depends on your existing experience, completion of required training, demonstrated competence, medical and employment checks, and operational requirements.

What type of work could I progress into?

The pathway is intended to support development toward offshore wind technician roles. Individual assignments will depend on competence, certification and project requirements.

Will travel be required?

Yes. Offshore wind work can involve domestic and international travel, periods away from home and work on rotating schedules.
